What Causes White Water Mold
WWM, is due to poor pool maintenance, the environment or poor circulation. Maintaining a pool is a lot of work, but if not properly maintained white water mold can begin to infest your waters. Be sure to thoroughly scrub pool surface on a weekly basis as well as exposing the ladder, steps, and rails to as much natural sunlight as possible. UV rays are natural oxidizers and will do most of the job for you. Be sure you look into the proper chemicals used in a pool because these are used to fully clean the filtration lines of harmful, tough, biofilm.
After using pool toys, floats or other water fun toys, remove them from the pool rinse them with a hose and let the sun air dry them completely before storing. Running you pool filter for at least 12 hours a day will prevent dead spots in the pool.
When white water mold is detected in your pool, a thorough cleaning is required. Any affected surfaces and visible WWM needs to be treated immediately! Next, add the recommended dosage of algaecide to your pool and the shock pool with a triple dose. Again, your filter should now be running continuously until the water is completely clear. Retest your water in about 4-5 days to have 100% certainty that your water is now safe and disinfected.
