The words every kid dreads to hear, “summer is almost over” is becoming a reality. Buying your kids new school supplies, and warm clothes is routine this time of the year. Something everyone must also consider is preparing your home for the fall weather. Summer comes and goes before you know it, so don’t be caught off guard when the leaves begin to fall and the temperature begins to drop.
Make sure to follow some basic tips that will reduce stress and destruction when the seasons begin to shift.
First order of business, check for and remove any debris remaining in your gutters. If you have gutter guards, make sure they are all in tact. If you do not, cleaning out any remaining leaves, sticks or dirt from the long summer will make it much easier once all the leaves have fallen. Secondly, make sure your yard is clear of all tools, toys and unnecessary objects. Your yards will quickly become covered in leaves and snow. This quick step can ensure nothing gets lost or ruined. If you have removable screens be prepared to make the switch to your storm windows. This is the time to take out the storm windows and make sure they are clean and ready when the time comes to make the switch. Don’t be caught scrambling looking for your dirty storm window right before a storm approaches.
